Pirates End the Losing Streak, Start a Winning Streak
Saturday night the Pirates defeated the Indians. Jeff Karstens picked up the win and Pedro Alvarez picked up his first career hit, an RBI double. I attended the game, here is a pic of Pedro standing on second base after his first big league hit. The Pirates played to a packed house and there were loads of Indians fans in the house. To their dismay, we sent them packing with a loss.

After that, the Pirates were not done yet. Sunday the Pirates came back to beat the Indians, 5 to 3. Brendan Donnelley got the win in relief. Pedro Alvarez had the go ahead RBI. Brad Lincoln gave up 3 runs in 6 innings, making that his best start as a pro.
The Pirates are off Monday. Look for a new column tomorrow talking about the losing streak, the new winning streak, all of the new players and the future. The Pirates had not won a game since the last time I attended a game, June 5. Getting a win Sunday made me feel good, since it let me know they can win even if I am not in attendance.
Beat em Bucs!
